Proposed MHSIBCA By-Law Changes

Below are proposed By-Law Changes that will be voted on by general members at the annual meeting. Please read through before the Annual General meeting.

 

 

Proposed changes to the MHSIBCA By-Laws

Change to Article III, the purpose is to give our association Treasurer the opportunity and time to process our later memberships. The proposal will reduce the timeline of the extended time we now allow late members to join.

 

 

Current listing:

ARTICLE III – DUES

The association is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational and/or scientific purposes under Section 501 (C) (3) of the internal revenue code.

The membership renewal dues of this association shall be an annual fee of $45.00 and paid by the Member’s expiration date of October 31st with a 45-day grace period expiring December 15th. The 57-day period after the 45-day extension date, membership will be increased to a late fee of $55.00 with no MHSCA liability insurance being offered. The effective dates of membership shall be November 1st through October 31st. The late $55.00 fee will only be accepted postmarked or paypal no later than February 10th. (This final due date of February 10th will be enforced). New member’s membership fee is $45.00 and will be accepted to February 10th. After the February 10th date, membership and renewals will be applied to the following season and the amount for membership reverts back to the standard $45.00. Multiple members from a program are offered, membership options are explained in our Policy and Procedures Manual Page 9. Membership dues for all active current board members, committee members and Past Presidents shall be waived as long as those members remain in good standing with the Board of our Association. Proposed Language changes:

Beginning with Sentence: The 30 day after the 45-day extension date, membership will be increased to a late fee of $55.00 with no MHSCA liability insurance being offered. The legislative committee and the board recommend the changes be instituted to our by-laws with a motion discussion and a vote to approve the changes. If approved, the necessary changes will be also made to Section 3 of our Policy and Procedures Manual and the membership application

 

 

 

Change to Article V

Create a new executive board position:

The new position to be added to our By-Laws, with membership approval, will be the position of Past President(s)

The additional language will be as follows added to Article V

ARTICLE V – OFFICERS

The executive officers of the association shall be a President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and a Sergeant-at-Arms. All executive officers will serve a full 2-year term. The offices of the President, 2nd Vice President and Secretary shall be elected at an even year AGM. The offices of 1st Vice President, Treasurer and Sergeant-at-Arms shall be elected at an odd year AGM. There will be no term limits for any of the executive officer’s positions. (effective 7/12/2009)

Proposed Language changes:

The executive officers of the association shall be a President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Past President(s) and a Sergeant-at-Arms. All executive officers, except the Past President(s) will serve a full 2-year term. The offices of the President, 2nd Vice President and Secretary shall be elected at an even year AGM. The offices of 1st Vice President, Treasurer and Sergeant-at-Arms shall be elected at an odd year AGM. The past President(s) position will be one of respect for the leaders of this association who wish to remain active (active will be defined as Past Presidents who hold committee positions or contribute valuable insight on a regular basis to the advancement and in the best interest of our association). This position shall carry full voting rights at any and all AGM and board meetings. They shall be appointed by the majority vote of the Board then under the direction of the President.

The past president position will be given duties and responsibilities as the President deems necessary.
