Reminder about 18 year old bowlers

Everyone,  we need to head off the issue of our athletes who have aged out
of their youth leagues.  If a youth turned 18 before August 1st, they are no longer
eligible to bowl in any certified USBC youth league.  So we all know without information giving to our coaches, our athletes will be bowling in adult leagues.   So in reality, our 18 year olds cannot bowl if they plan on bowling High school.
The only type of certified league they will be able to participate in is an Adult/youth league with no prize fund or alcohol available.

New Weight Hole Rules

Fellow coaches, there are big bowling ball changes from the USBC beginning August 1st.  The one change that will affect our athletes will be the weight hole rule. It will deem a bowling ball and delivery illegal.
The rule: IF THERE IS A HOLE IN A BALL NOT BEING USED DURING DELIVERY, THAT BALL WILL BE DEEMED ILLEGAL.
What this means if a 2 hander throws a ball with only 2 fingers and the ball in play has 3 holes that ball is illegal.  Another example if a conventional player’s ball has 4 holes that ball is also illegal.  The penalty will be for that delivery a zero.  This will be a self-policing rule, which until everyone becomes aware, there may be issues with uniformed parties.  So as your association we as a service to our members are providing an early heads up.
